About Us

ENGINEER Mohammed Jahir Uddin

Chairman of Basic Power Engineering Ltd

After working in the Sector of Electrical Engineering for a decade, I dreamt of doing something more meaningful to upgrade my self-esteem. Thereafter, I met my Partner, the MD of the BPEL whom I found like-minded and compatible to undertake a great business venture. We started from scratch; with trading and sourcing of Transformer, DB, Panel, and different Electrical Spares. Soon, the business plan involved developing systems with outsourced and rented workshops. As days passed, we established our workshop with our experts and technicians.

BPEL is now at the junction of making an upward swing to take the business to a new height. I dream of going for IPO in 2027 to avail greater amount of funds needed for the expansion of the business. BPEL needs to acquire many high-precision capital equipment for its modern factory. We dream of making many essential electrical items to lessen import dependency. More so, our excess capacity would be used for exporting varieties of electrical goods.

Bangladesh is an expanding economy. Its power consumption would grow proportionately with the economic growth and size of the economy. Thus, the market size of this sector will get bigger with time. So, the future of the sector is bright.

We are fortunate to have a fleet of committed people working in different capacities of the company. I am sure that with good support and a little training, these people can produce goods and services of world standard. Finally, I wish the company succeeds in its path of journey.

Ohiduzzaman

Managing Director of Basic Power Engineering Ltd

After serving as a Project Manager involving BBT for more than a decade, I understood the full potential of the sector in Bangladesh. My awards 8 (eight) times as the ‘Best Project Manager’ of a Company made me confident to take a journey in the field of Electrical Engineering. I came across all other allied aspects of the sector. Being a non-tech person, I could muster in acquiring working knowledge in all technical aspects. My vast experience showed me the hidden business potential of the sector.

I started BPEL as a Trade House in 2008 for sourcing and supply of electrical goods. Immediately, BPEL felt the need for a Technical Partner to complement each other for the overall need and advancement of the company. Soon, the Chairman joined as an equal partner of the Company.

Despite a good partnership arrangement, the journey of the company was not at all easy. There was a huge need for funds for capital investment for greater value addition of the business. Slowly, with hard labor and meticulous planning, it could turn itself from a Trading House to a full-fledged business with good production facilities.

I express my gratitude to the hard-working employees of the company for their commitment and dedication without whom BPEL could never have its present standing.

I hope BPEL will become a known brand both nationally and internationally soon.

Basic Power Engineering Limited (BPEL) is still a small company comparing the domestic market size and others in the sector. By now BPEL has established itself as a competent company in a very short time with its high quality products and services. BPEL does not compromise with quality but at times is forced to fluctuate the time plan due to heavy dependence on foreign spares of the entire sector.

BEPL has taken its present shape with huge labor, aspiration and intelligent planning of two persons; Mohammed Jahir Uddin, the Chairman and Mr. Ohiduzzaman, the Managing Director of the company. In a very short span of time, it has grown with good production facilities where quality products are produced. It is capable to check varieties of electrical systems, equipment and servicing those for smooth and safe operation.

BPEL started its journey in a one room office with a Trade License named Basic Power Engineering Limited (BPEL) in 2008 by the Managing Director. It suddenly did not come up rather crossed every staircase to climb up to present height. Immediately, the Chairman joined the company as an equal partner. And, the company got momentum in its journey forward.

Initially, it dealt with several outsourced contracts in the form of trade; sourcing spares, and selling at a margin to its clients. A few years later, in 2011, the company rented a small workshop where several products used to be manufactured using basic machines and tools. Mainly it first mastered in mechanical works where other aspects like painting were outsourced. However, despite limited capability, it could enhance the volume of its production capacity gradually.

In 2016, it established its factory at Tongi. In 2017, it enlarged its production facilities further adding a rented shade. By now, the company has a moderate-size factory in a land of 54 decimals of land. It has purchased more lands around Dhaka for expanding production facilities in the near.

Its present products and services are:

  • Manufacturing and Assembling of 11KV and 33KV Complete substations (Transformer, LT Switchgear Panel, HT Switchgear Panel, PFI Panel etc.).
  • All Types of Industrial and Residential MV Distribution Panels (MDB, SDB, MCC, and other Floor or Wall Mounted Indoor or Outdoor ones).
  • 11KV and 33KV Transformer: Supply of all Transformers up to 20MVA, Rental Service up to 75MVA.
  • LT & HT Copper Strips Design and Supply for 11KV Transformers.
  • Bus bar Trunking System (Import, Supply, Installation, Repairing and Maintenance)
  • Servicing and System Upgrading, Automation, Calibration of Instruments and Equipment, ELB, Load Procedure Support etc.

New Products and Services planned shortly:

  • Busbar Trunking System (BBT)
  • Copper Items
  • Training Facilities

The company has two shops under the name ‘Toto Corporation’ where a variety of essential electrical items are sold.

BPEL dreams of registering itself at the Stock Exchange by floating IPO in 2027 for the expansion of its production lines and capacity for more products and services. At that time it would go for producing:

  • Cable Tray
  • Cast Resin Transformer with CT BT
  • Solar Converter
  • Inverter
  • Testing Equipment
  • EV Charging station equipment etc.

The Company plans to have a broader portfolio under the BPEL Corporate Structure. At present, it has a sister concern named ‘NREpac Automation and TMI’ as alternatives for business purposes. This entity would be a real step for the increase of business domains. To be in global business, BPEL plans to go for LEED certification.

BPEL is rich in its HR elements. It has a team of hard-working, committed, and sincere fleet of quality employees. The small factory utilizes 100% of its capacity producing quality products and providing services. However, it is trying to buy precision machinery and adopt all modern management tools to increase quality and productivity. BPEL is at the junction point to be a medium-sized enterprise. The foresightedness and dynamic leadership of the Top Management ought to take the business to a height soon.
